PURPOSE

The DPAC is committed to involving parents/guardians in the public education system.  We will work co-operatively and collaboratively with all our partner groups which include: parents, principals, teachers, support staff and students.  The DPAC will encourage networking in all schools in the North Okanagan Shuswap School District to learn and support one another with educational matters.

The DPAC will also encourage individual schools to become members of the British Columbia Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils to be able to have a strong voice at the Provincial Government level.

The DPAC in conjunction with North Okanagan Shuswap School District has parent representatives who sit on a variety of District committees, some examples are:  District Policy, District School Planning Councils, District Middle Schools, District Hiring Committee, First Nations Educational Council. These are a few of our purposes that should encourage you to become more involved.

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED WITH THE DPAC?

Each school in North Okanagan Shuswap School District has the right to have arepresentative voting member attend the DPAC meetings.  The Parent Advisory Council must elect the DPAC Rep voting member, but any interested parent/guardian may attend the meetings.

The DPAC Executive is elected in the month of September, from the DPAC voting members.  These positions are held annually. The Executive is able to hold their position for a term of up to three (3) years, if they so desire.

Notice of upcoming meetings and the minutes from previous meetings are sent to the PAC President and/or DPAC rep of each school. Meeting minutes will also be posted on-line.
