Donation to school food programs!
A group of School District No. 83 (North Okanagan-Shuswap) schools were very excited, and grateful, to receive a donation for each of their food programs for students from the Bargain Bin.
The Armstrong Bargain Bin, is a thrift store operated by the Armstrong/Spallumcheen Health Care Auxiliary (ASHS). Each year the group donates its profits to support health and wellness projects in its region. This year they donated $150,000, which included donations to local schools for food programs ($13,000) as well as eight bursaries for the high schools for students seeking further post-secondary health care education ($16,000).
This year they also chose to donate funds to local schools to support the school’s food programs. This included:
- Armstrong Elementary
- Highland Park
- Len Wood Middle
- Pleasant Valley Secondary
- Falkland Elementary
- M.V. Beattie Elementary
- A.L. Fortune Secondary
The group also donated to various health care programs ($92,250) in Vernon and Armstrong, as well as support to Armstrong and Enderby food banks ($25,500), and the Armstrong/Spallumcheen medical equipment loan society ($3,000).
