Courses approved
The Board gave consideration and approval to a group of locally developed Board/Authority Authorized (BAA) courses for students.
The courses cover a wide area of interest from Post-Secondary Preparation 11/12 to Drumline 10/11/12. This work is part of an ongoing review of district BAA courses to determine which should be retired as they no longer meet requirements or are redundant due to additional Ministry course offerings. They have also been revised to reflect the new “Know-Do-Understand” curriculum model.
“The province is in transition and we need to change our BAA courses over to the Know, Do, Understand curriculum model to be in alignment,” reported Chelsea Prince, vice-principal at Salmon Arm Senior Secondary who leads the team updating the BAA courses.
After discussion by the Board, approval was given to the following courses (click on the link to read a description of the course):
