There are many activities and opportunities to learn more about career pathways during Career Education Week, held from November 25 to 29 in K̓wsaltktnéws ne Secwepemcúl’ecw School District No. 83.
The first event will take place on Tuesday, November 26 at 7 p.m. when SD83 Careers and “Let’s Talk Science” host a province-wide virtual seminar called “Shaping the Future: Navigating STEM Careers for the Next Generation”. Let’s Talk Science is a national charitable organization committed to preparing youth for evolving career and citizenship demands by providing programs and resources to build engagement towards STEM. The event is targeted at all K-12 parents and students, focusing on how they can learn more about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields while building skills outside of the classroom for some of those careers. If you wish to register for the event to learn more about these resources click here.
On Wednesday, November 27 at 6:30 p.m. take part in an online panel chat to explore diverse career paths, learn insider tips and inspiring stories, which will hopefully help you find a career you’ll love! Teens and their parents/guardians are invited to join! Please register here.
Another interesting session takes place on Thursday, November 28 at 7 p.m. when SD83 Careers and JABC (Junior Achievement BC) will host an event entitled “Discover the World of Business and Money”. JA’s mandate is to help prepare young people for the future of work, how to think entrepreneurially, and ensure they have the tools to be financially capable adults. This event is also a province-wide virtual seminar and is geared specifically for Grades 4-6 parents and students. There will also be an online game or two that parents and students can participate in during the event.
