Livestream option added to Board of Education Meeting
The School District No. 83 Board of Education (North Okanagan-Shuswap) will be holding its first meeting of the new school year on Tuesday, September 22 at 6 p.m. at the District Education Support Centre (DESC) in Salmon Arm.
This meeting will be open to the public and will also be livestreamed. For those who wish to attend the meeting via livestream on Monday at 6 p.m., please click here or copy and paste this link in your browser: https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_YWM3ZGQxOGMtOTBlNS00NmE1LTg1M2EtMmMzNGUyMmVhY2Iw%40thread.v2/0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%2287a1ffa4-963f-450e-8d90-155de78d9be5%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%22ce57af8e-18a0-4b1b-a385-20ae694bf9ca%22%2c%22IsBroadcastMeeting%22%3atrue%7d
Please be advised: Due to the size of the room, and the requirement to accommodate physical distancing during this in-person meeting, the audio quality of the livestream event may be poor. Unfortunately, the audio video equipment the district currently has on hand is limited.
For those who choose to physically attend the meeting, as with all of our schools, health and safety protocols will be in place. SD83 HR Co-ordinator (Health, Safety and Wellness) Brenda MacKay explains that, just like at school, if you do not feel well please do not attend the meeting (https://bc.thrive.health/covid19/en). She adds that those attending will be asked to put on a mask prior to entering the building, sanitize their hands, review a visitor health check form, and sign in with a current contact phone number. Once seated, masks can be removed if you choose as chairs will be physically distanced, there will be entry and exit paths and occupancy limits will be followed.
“These procedures and protocols are still quite new to everyone. Hopefully, by working together, we can reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 but still continue the important work of the Board and school district in this new norm,” says SD83 Superintendent of Schools/CEO Peter Jory.
The Board has a full agenda including the year end financial statements, a presentation by the District of Sicamous for the exploration of a possible joint multi-sport complex project, and a report on the major projects completed by the Operations Department over the summer.
