Special Valentines!

Students learned how to use some assistive technology to help them create Valentines!

Jessa Clark, the SD83 Education Technology Helping Teacher joined students from the Individual Achievement Program at Salmon Arm Secondary (Sullivan Campus) to work on a special Valentines gift. Clark has been working with the class to discover assistive technology options that will help them as they transition out of high school and on to the next phase of their learning and life!

Using speech to text, immersive reader and translation tools, the students created Virtual Valentines for their friends, family and special adults. They also learned how to electronically share these documents with their teacher and parents so that their achievements can be celebrated both at school and at home.

The students were excited to be given tools to express themselves in multiple ways and worked hard to add pictures and text to their designs.

They are also very excited for after Spring Break when Clark will be working with them to explore some of the coding and robotics options available from the District Resource Center.
