Ready, Set, Learn at M.V. Beattie

On Monday, March 2, 2026, M.V. Beattie Elementary welcomed families to their engaging Ready, Set, Learn (RSL) session that blended playful early learning experiences with opportunities for connection, creativity, and community support.

The event brought together young children, their families, and local early‑years partners, including a Public Health Nurse and a representative from the Shuswap Children’s Association.

Throughout the session, families explored a variety of hands‑on learning stations thoughtfully arranged throughout the learning space. Craft tables invited children to cut, glue, colour, and create to strengthen fine motor skills while encouraging imagination. One of the highlights included making cheerful “food faces,” combining simple ingredients into fun, nutritious creations.

Across the room, children engaged in sensory and imaginative play using natural materials, pretend food, wooden blocks, and open‑ended loose parts. These activities sparked storytelling, problem‑solving, and cooperative play as children experimented, built, and explored alongside their families.

Ready, Set, Learn is a free, province-wide initiative offered by our District to support families of children ages three to five. The program provides playful early learning opportunities, helps children become familiar with school settings, and connects families with local resources and supports that can contribute to a confident transition into kindergarten.

Community partnerships remain a valued part of each RSL session. The involvement of health and early‑years professionals enriches the experience for families by offering easily accessible guidance and creating a welcoming space for questions and conversations.
