School District No. 83 (K̓wsaltktnéws ne Secwepemcúl’ecw) believes that the education of students is an undertaking that should be shared among its employees, parents and members of the community.
The active involvement of parents and appropriate use of volunteers as helpers has the potential to provide considerable benefit to the intellectual and social development of students. In addition, the participation of volunteers increases communication and positive relationships between the school, parents and the community.
To ensure student safety, volunteers must complete a Vulnerable Criminal Records Check (CRC) through the Criminal Records Review Program (CRRP). CRCs are valid for 5 years and are free for volunteers applying under School District No. 83. In accordance with the Criminal Records Review Act and Board Policy 240 (Volunteers in Schools), individuals must complete this check BEFORE you can begin working with children or vulnerable individuals. Volunteers are subject to the same FIPPA regulations as district staff.
To complete your CRC online, please use the link below and the access code provided by the school office or by emailing the District office. Be sure to review the step-by-step guide and prepare all required documents before starting the submission.
Processing Time: It can take up to 10 business days for the CRRP to process your request. Once your request has been processed and received at the District office, it can take an additional 7 business days to be entered into the system.
Volunteer drivers must also submit a driver’s abstract or disclose any traffic violations or accidents on record to the school(s) in which they are volunteering at.
Active School District No. 83 employees with criminal record check clearance do not need to complete a volunteer CRC.
