Board to discuss report

Posted on 2021-11-05 07:00:00 +0000 UTC

The Special Advisors Report for School District No. 57 will be under discussion at the School District No. 83 (North Okanagan-Shuswap) Board of Education Committee of the Whole meeting taking place Tuesday, November 9 at 4 p.m.

This report focuses on several key topics: governance (including policy and accountability), board and senior leadership, student learning, systemic racism, and relations with First Peoples. The Committee of the Whole will analyze the Special Advisors Report from SD57 and look critically at key findings and recommendations to identify areas of focus and awareness for SD83. This will be a time to authentically listen, talk and reflect on equity in SD83 for Indigenous and other learners impacted by inequity.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the meeting will not be open to observe but will be recorded and posted on the SD83 website. The day after the meeting you will find a link posted on the Board of Education drop down menu on the SD83 website (click on Board Committees and then scroll down to Committee of the Whole).

Typically, a Committee of the Whole meeting is open for staff and public to observe. These types of meetings provide the Board of Education an opportunity to discuss an issue before bringing recommendations/motions to a regular Board of Education meeting. The Board’s next regular meeting is on November 23, 2021.
