Buses delayed in Salmon Arm

UPDATE 9:15 a.m. – The Trans Canada Highway is now open.

Several SD83 school buses will be delayed coming into the high schools in Salmon Arm today as there has been a vehicle accident on the Trans Canada Highway near Sandy Point.

SD83’s buses were not involved in the accident, however school buses coming from the North Shuswap, Sorrento and Tappen areas are all being held in traffic behind the accident. Also, some students are waiting at bus stops for those buses, who at this time are unable to continue with the regular route.

Manager of Transportation Andrea Kathrein notes the transportation department is sending out messages to all families affected with specific information on the status of their school bus. They will also be phoning the families of those students who are at the bus stops which can’t be reached at this time.
