Carlin featured in Ministry update!

The Ministries of Health and Education regularly share updates, which we are sharing with our parents and communities.

This useful information includes a link to Frequently Asked Questions around Continuity of Learning, which the Ministry of Education is constantly updating. Today it also includes recognition of Carlin Elementary Middle School Grade 2/3 Class and their chicks!

Update – May 5, 2020

Tomorrow, Wednesday May 6th, Premier Horgan will address the province to talk about the COVID-19 restart plan for British Columbians. The exact time is TBC. The news conference will be broadcasted live on the BC Government Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/BCProvincialGovernment

Today, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix, announced 8 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C., bringing the total number of cases to 2,232.  The total number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 in B.C. is1,472. The joint statement will be posted on the Ministry of Health newsroom later today – https://news.gov.bc.ca/ministries/health

School District # 83(Okanagan Shuswap) – Look at these adorable baby chicks! At Carlin Elementary Middle School teacher Brittany Hall is hatching baby chicks with her students . . . virtually that is. As of Wednesday, April 29th, Hall’s Grade 2/3 students are now proud parents to one White Silkie, one Americauna and four Danish Brown Leghorns chicks (these are all Heritage breeds of chickens). Everyone is doing well! To prepare for the chicks’ arrival students learned many things including about the incubator, candling to see if the egg is fertilized, the structure of the egg and much more.
