Colourful Display at Elementary Art Fair
The Piccadilly Mall in Salmon Arm was transformed into a very colourful place from March 4 to 11, featuring art pieces by elementary students from across School District No. 83 (North Okanagan-Shuswap) as part of the annual District Art Fair.
One of the highlights of this annual event was the opportunity for approximately 300 students to work with local artists on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. The sessions included:
– Loom bead bracelets with Diane Jewell
– Japanese Calligraphy with Eiko Uehara
– Pen and Ink Techniques with Terry Greenhough
– Foam Printmaking with Christine Kashuba
– Pottery with Catherine Auten
– Pottery with Stephen Plant
– Fantastic Beasts Creative Drawing with Abe Tio
– Mixed Media Nature Art with Tina Lepine
– Book Binding with Jillayne Wickware
– Hot Glue Art Projects with Melissa Nasby
Special thanks to the local artisans who generously shared their knowledge with our students. Art Fair organizers Corrinne Langston and Kirsten Mazur would also like to extend their gratitude to Piccadilly Mall staff for their support setting up for the art fair, all school site-based art fair coordinators, SD83 students for their beautiful art work, and the Grade 11 and 12 student leadership volunteers.
