Curlers win gold!
It was a gold medal, undefeated performance for the Jackson boys curling rink at the B.C. High School Curling Championships, which took place March 2-5 in Kelowna!
The rink of Kaiden Beck, Nolan Beck, Alex Watkins and Nick Metcalfe of Salmon Arm Secondary Jackson Campus won four games over the Wednesday and Thursday and then faced Riverside Secondary of Port Coquitlam on Friday morning for the championship game.
Both of the teams headed into the final with a record of 4-0, however Riverside was comprised of Grade 11 and 12 curlers. The Jackson curlers didn’t let it deter them as they won 12-4 in seven rounds.
The team thanks coaches Darryl and Kate Horne for sharing their time and experience, and to the Salmon Arm Curling Club and SASCU for providing ice time. The teacher-sponsor for the team is Jackson Principal Steve Drapala.
