Emergency contacts, weather and more!

Posted on 2023-08-31 07:00:00 +0000 UTC

If there is any type of emergency, the contact information on file with the school is how the school or district personnel will try to reach you.

As we start a new school year please take a minute to log in to your Family Portal to check and ensure the information is correct. If not, please notify the school.

Hopefully the school year will not be impacted by any emergencies, however, SD83 has emergency protocols and plans to help keep our students and staff safe. Along with the RCMP and other B.C. school districts, there is a common terminology to describe our response to a variety of different scenarios which we would like to share with parents. You may be familiar with some of the terminology and some may be new! Please read about them here.

We’d also like to share some information about emergency weather issues. During an emergency, extreme weather, power outage or similar incident, the school district will strive to communicate quickly and effectively with parents, students, staff and the community. Please read more here.

To help protect our students, the District suggests that parents/guardians check with your local insurance provider or online on-line for other options. One available insurer is the insuremykids® Protection Plan through Reliable Life Insurance Company. Participation in this program is voluntary and the parent or guardian pays the costs. Please read more here.
