Flags lowered
April 28 is the National Day of Mourning for workers injured on the job. In recognition of this, and as schools aren’t open on Sunday, flags in the School District No. 83 (North Okanagan-Shuswap) were lowered at all school sites and at the District Education Support Centre (DESC) on Friday, April 26.
The day is set aside to remember and honour those lives lost or injured because of their work, and to renew the commitment to prevent further deaths, injuries and diseases by improving health and safety in the workplace.
Local Day of Mourning events will be held at Marine Park in Salmon Arm at 10:45 a.m. and the Armstrong Seniors Activity Centre at 1 p.m.
