GRADitude tour celebrates and inspires
It is a tour of celebration, a tour of thanks, and a tour of inspiration!
For several years now, graduating students at Salmon Arm Secondary and Pleasant Valley Secondary have been taking part in a GRADitude Tour!
The idea behind the tour is to give grads a chance to thank the people and places that supported them to this milestone. It offers grads an opportunity to reflect on how far they have come, perhaps check out school photos of themselves on the walls of their elementary school, wear their cap and gown, and further mark this rite of passage. It also inspires the younger students to see that they too can graduate and it is an opportunity for elementary teachers to see their former students.
Highland Park Elementary Principal Shelly Cull comments when the grads visited the school, the halls were full of joy and celebration and some tears. “What a great way for our elementary school students to hold onto the “graduation picture” in their minds. ‘So, this is what it’s all about!’ I heard one student say. The cheering, high fives, fist pumps and congratulatory comments were all so very heart warming.”
