Local community health nurses have teamed up with SD83’s Healthy Schools Co-ordinator Laura Paiement to offer health fairs at local elementary schools. One of these fairs was held at Silver Creek Elementary on January 20.
Students took part in a variety of learning stations which encouraged them to be active, eat healthy, learn how to fit a bike helmet, what the consistency of their brain is and the importance of protecting it, why tobacco and vaping are dangerous to your health, how much sugar is in soft drinks, the importance of sleep, how to correctly wash your hands, and making poo!
Additional health fairs are planned for Parkview Elementary in Sicamous and M.V. Beattie Elementary in Enderby.
