Learning about culture

Posted on 2019-05-21 07:00:00 +0000 UTC

Grindrod Elementary students had the opportunity to take part in some interactive, Indigenous cultural stations on May 14.

The mini-workshops were provided by Youth Voice (Indigenous leadership students from SD83 secondary schools) with assistance from SD83 Indigenous Education Workers.

Students had the opportunity to learn some pow wow dancing as well as play traditional Indigenous games such as longball, lacrosse and lahal. Students also took part in some drumming, storytelling, and learned to play the Metis spoons.
