Move and Groove Challenge

Posted on 2021-02-02 08:00:00 +0000 UTC

It is time to get Moving and Grooving and beat those February blahs! Students and staff are being encouraged to play, laugh, and move together. Families are welcome to join in!

Each February SD83 Healthy Schools Co-ordinator Laura Paiement organizes a Move and Groove Challenge for all SD83 students and staff to take part in and have some fun. Although this year the focus is on physically distancing and wearing masks while you do it, the Move and Groove Challenge is still a go!

All SD83 staff and students are invited to participate in this fun COVID-friendly challenge that promotes physical and mental wellbeing. Let’s celebrate by engaging in the daily challenges to encourage healthy bodies, minds, and communities. Please follow ALL SD83 COVID Protocols while doing the challenges.

Each weekday in February there is a physical task that you can participate in as an individual, family, class, or cohort. Participate in all 20 or just pick one or two! Share a photo and be entered for a weekly prize! To help celebrate the movement in all of us, take photos (individually or physically distanced) and share with others on Twitter (please use #83moves) or email to lpaiemen@sd83.bc.ca. All photos will be entered in a weekly draw for some great prizes! (Please ensure students have photo releases before sharing photos). Remember, there is no right or wrong way to “Move and Groove”

Of special note is the new Family Day P.L.A.Y. Challenge. The family friendly fun challenge includes playing in the snow, balancing on a log, skipping through the forest, jumping off a bench and much more! Click here for the poster or go to www.playshuswap.com.  Complete one or all activity challenges over the four days of the Family Day Weekend – February 12-15, 2021. Send in your photo(s) to playshuswap@gmail.com or post on PLAYShuswap Facebook page and tag your community:
