MyEd BC Family Portal
SD83 would like to alert our school community of the plan for rolling out the MyEducation BC Family Portal in all schools K-12 between now and the winter break. Most secondary schools are already using the Family Portal at this point, but all remaining schools will now be coming on board in this final phase of our implementation plan.
MyEducation BC is the provincial student information system that all school districts now use. The Family Portal allows parents to login into see several things such as published reports (i.e.) report cards, CB-IEPs, Diploma Verification Reports, their child’s schedule and attendance information, demographic information (including medical and legal alerts), fee assessments, self-assessment of core competencies, and much more.
SD83 is happy to report that we will have direct support available to help parents if any of you struggle with gaining access to the portal. Each school will communicate directly to parents (via email) in advance of the date that they plan to open the portal, so parents know what they can expect to see arriving in their email inbox. As such, schools will open the portal one-by-one in this fashion, not all on a single date and time.
Very shortly after your school indicates that they are opening the portal, you will receive an email from the MyEducation BC system welcoming you to login. This email will come to only contacts in our system who have parental authority. Other contacts can have access to the Family Portal, but contacts with parental authority would have to approve that. Within this email, you will be provided with a link to a support document that has a listing of frequently asked questions, as well as an email address you can use to get further support if necessary. If you prefer to speak to someone directly, a phone number will also be provided in this email. As we roll out our Family Portal to all schools, you can also expect to see links to all of this support we will offer to families on your school website.
