Athletes who finished in the top four in the regional finals earn a berth to the provincial meet!

From Eagle River Secondary, Victoria Itterman will be representing her school in the junior girls’ shot put. Eagle River’s team is coached by Jodie Osmundson.

From A.L. Fortune Secondary, four students are headed to provincials. Jessica Rands will be in Grade 8 javelin, Kaelan Zacharias will be in junior javelin, and Jacob Simpso will be in junior shot put. Also, Declan Saner qualified in the Junior 1500 metre racewalk at a prior meet. The team is coached by Steven Stankoven and Matthew Houghland.

Shuswap Middle School’s track and field team. Missing is Mcguire Menzies

Shuswap Middle School has three athletes who qualified for the provincials but only one is able to attend. Vienne Bredick will be taking part in high jump and long jump. Aurealia Beaumont qualified for discus and Ian Orchard for the 800 metre. Coach Andi King reports that only Grade 8s are able to go to regionals but that the whole team had a good season including the SMS grade 8 boys winning the North Zones Championships. The boys’ team consisted of: Alex Eldon, River Gerow, Colten Lafortune, Mcguire Menzies, Ian Orchard, and Joel Giesbrecht.

Over at Pleasant Valley Secondary, Ava Wagner, Anna Melvin, Jasmin Richoux, and Ila Isaac will be representing their school in the 4x100m and the 4x400m relays. Ila Isaac also qualified for high jump and Anna Melvin may be in the mix for the long jump final. The team is coached by retired teacher Ian Cameron.

Jackson and Sullivan each have teams, coached by Suzi Beckner. From Jackson taking part in the BCs is Ava La Sota in discus, Ellie Giesbrecht in 300 metre hurdles and 1500 steeplechase, and Lucy King in the 400 metre and 800 metre races.

Eric Moore will be in the long jump, triple jump, and high jump.
