Over 600 Take Part in District Track Meet
Under sunny skies over 600 young athletes took part in annual District Elementary Track Meet at the Field of Dreams in Salmon Arm on June 3, 2025.
To the cheers of parents, grandparents, and teammates, the Grade 4-7 students took part in ball throw, long jump, high jump, sprints, long distance running, and relays.
Organizer Paul Rosman commented that it was once again wonderful to have the weather cooperate for this day. He added they were able to hold the high jump outside rather than in the gym at Shuswap Middle School. He noted that with the help of many volunteers the day went smoothly!
Rosman thanked Ranchero Parent Advisory Council for running the concession, Terra Thiele who was the first aid attendant, and the high school students from Salmon Arm Secondary who spent the day assisting at the stations. He noted that recently retired principals Scott Anderson, Doug Cumming and Rob Ellis assisted all day in various capacities and retired Assistant Superintendent Carl Cooper returned again to help mark lanes, take video of sprints for photo finishes and organize the relays and 400 Metre runs. Also, current Director of Instruction Jen Findlay ran the scorer’s tent.
SD83 would like to thank Rosman and the many volunteers who helped make this day such a success for our students!
