Pirate Skiers Take to the Larch Hills on Friday!
Ahoy mates! The annual SD83 Pirate Loppet is coming up on Friday, January 31, 2025, starting at 10:30 a.m,
A blast from a blackpowder cannon will signal the start of the loppet, a fun event for students up to Grade 8. Skiers, teachers and organizers will set the tone by dressing in their best pirate attire, adding to the excitement!
This long-running and unique event, made possible by tremendous volunteer and community support, holds the title of the largest children’s ski loppet in the province. Designed as a participation event rather than a race, its goal is to encourage youngsters to learn how to cross-country ski.
Participants are invited to dress like a pirate, have a fun ski, indulge in some refreshments, and perhaps even take home some prizes! Registration is done through their school.
The School District would like to thank the many community sponsors ,and in particular the Larch Hills Nordic Society, for their dedication and hard work in creating this amazing opportunity for our students.
