PVSS French Students Celebrate DELF Exam Success

Posted on 2024-06-20 07:00:00 +0000 UTC

Congratulations to the 41 French students at Pleasant Valley Secondary School who passed their DELF exam this May!

Teacher Janet Gillis explains that the DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) and DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) are official qualifications awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify the French language competency of candidates from outside France.

This year, one student took the B2 exam, two students took the B1 exam, 13 students took the A2 exam, and 25 took the A1 exam. “This is our largest group since we started offering the exam in 2022,” Gillis added.

The French 12 students celebrated with a graduation dinner at the Bouchons Restaurant in Kelowna. “They had the opportunity to savour French cuisine, courtesy of Stephane and Beatrice Facon the owners of this French gourmet restaurant,” said Gillis.

Gillis thanked JJs Pizza in Armstrong for their support through weekly pizza sales, the group’s main fundraiser. “Everyone was able to attend this amazing experience for free. It was a very special way to end four years of dedication to learning a new language.”
