Original Message:
Some bus students from Parkview, Eagle River, M.V. Beattie, Grindrod, and A.L. Fortune will be remaining at their schools due to RCMP action in the area. Students and staff are safe and are in no imminent danger, This is a precautionary measure.
The school district has received notification from the RCMP that the highway is closed to traffic from the intersection of Hwy 97A , Hwy 97B and Two Mile (the barricades are located south of Sicamous, at Two Mile, at intersection of 97A and Grindrod Enderby Road, and also at intersection at Hwy 97A and 97B).
RCMP have confirmed that staff and students are not under any imminent threat. Under direction of the RCMP, students are being held at schools. RCMP will be notifying the district when this is lifted.
If parents have an alternate route by which they can reach the school, and want to pick their child up, they are able to do that.
