Ready, Set, Learn at Parkview Elementary
Parkview Elementary was full of energy on Thursday, February 5, 2026, as ten young children and their families took part in a Ready, Set, Learn (RSL) session designed to spark curiosity, movement, and early learning through play.
The gym transformed into a dynamic learning space where children explored a variety of hands‑on stations and active play opportunities. From climbing the bouldering wall to balancing on colourful stepping pieces and engaging in parachute games, children had plenty of space to move, explore, and build confidence in a supportive school environment.
Throughout the room, early learning stations encouraged imaginative and sensory‑rich play. Children mixed, sorted, and created with natural loose parts, explored dramatic play materials, examined objects with magnifying glasses, and engaged in building activities that supported fine motor development and early problem‑solving skills.
We were grateful to have several community partners join us for the event:
- Trish Schubert (Supported Child Development, Shuswap Children’s Association)
- Donna Helgeson (Public Health Nurse)
- Gwyneth Gau (Family Navigator)
Their participation offered families meaningful opportunities to connect with local supports and learn more about early childhood resources available in the community. Parkview’s own Early Childhood Educator Cori Miller also played a key role in welcoming families and facilitating engaging activities throughout the morning.
Ready, Set, Learn is a free, province‑wide initiative offered by our District that supports families with children ages three to five. The program provides playful early learning experiences, helps children become familiar with school settings, and strengthens connections between families, schools, and community partners.
