Ready, Set, Learn at Salmon Arm West

Posted on 2026-03-12 20:14:19.974 +0000 UTC

On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, Salmon Arm West hosted a Ready, Set, Learn (RSL) event, bringing together families for an engaging early learning experience. Community partners joined in to support the session, including a public health nurse along with representatives from Shuswap Children's Association and Okanagan Regional Library. Several members of the school team also stopped by to greet families and share in the activities.

The library was set up with a variety of inviting play and learning areas that encouraged exploration, creativity, and family connection. Children spent time at a pretend kitchen station stocked with play food, dishes, and tools which inspired imaginative play and simple storytelling.

A highlight of the RSL event was story time, where families gathered together on the carpet as a representative from Okanagan Regional Library shared a picture book.

The RSL event also gave families time to meet with early‑years professionals, ask questions, and learn about supportive community resources available to them as they prepare for the transition to kindergarten.

RSL is a free, province‑wide initiative offered by our District to support families with children ages three to five. The program introduces young learners to school environments through playful, hands‑on activities while strengthening connections between families, schools, and community partners.
