Ready, Set, Learn at South Broadview Elementary
South Broadview Elementary was filled with excitement on Monday, February 23, 2026, as 23 young learners and their families gathered in the gym for an engaging Ready, Set, Learn session. The space was set up with a variety of hands‑on, creative, and play‑based stations that encouraged children to explore early learning concepts in fun and meaningful ways.
Children moved between activity areas, crafting with paper, stickers, and colourful materials; experimenting with loose parts and wooden blocks; exploring pretend‑play stations like the Imagination Kitchen; and trying out musical instruments designed to spark curiosity about sound and rhythm. Many families also enjoyed preparing simple snacks together, adding a warm and social element to the morning.
Families had the opportunity to connect with several community partners who support early learning across the region:
- Child Care Resource and Referral
- Public Health Nurse
- Métis Family Connections Navigator
Their involvement provided families access to helpful information and resources in a friendly, accessible environment.
A huge thank‑you goes to Mr. Menzies and the student volunteers for their help setting up the gym and ensuring the space was ready for exploration and play. Appreciation also goes to Ms. Devries Russwurm and Ms. Gray, who supported families at the registration table and helped the event run smoothly from start to finish.
South Broadview’s Ready, Set, Learn event offered families a welcoming introduction to the school community, supporting early learning through play, creativity, and connection.
