SAS claims curling silver!

Congrats to Salmon Arm Secondary’s (SAS) rink of lead Brayan Morton, second Ryan Cowell, third Austin Tomlinson, skip Kaiden Beck, and SAS alumni coach Andrew Cowell who claimed silver medals at the B.C. High School Curling Championships in Terrace, which ended Feb. 25.

It was a bittersweet silver for the boys as they went through the round robin undefeated with a 6-0 record, including a 4-3 squeaker past Grand Forks Secondary. The two met again in the final round. It was another close game with SAS taking two in the eighth end to tie up the game and send it in to an extra end. The boys played the end perfectly and forced the Grand Forks’ skip to make a perfect draw to the button to win.

It was a disappointing loss, but the SAS boys are coming home with silver medals! On the girls’ side the Thompson Okanagan reps from Penticton took gold, with Grand Forks collecting the silver.
