Students recognized with metal art fish

Posted on 2023-07-04 07:00:00 +0000 UTC

Grade 8 students leaving Carlin Elementary Middle School and headed to the “bigger waters” of Jackson are being commemorated with a metal art fish displayed on Carlin’s fence as part of a locally-funded legacy project! The plan is each year in June the students leaving the school will have a fish with their name engraved on it placed on the fence.

The fish are a tribute to the students and as well as as a visible reminder of the impact of the work of the teachers, support staff, and the incredible Carlin community has had on the lives of the students, comments CEMS vice-principal Sandra Major.

“The fish look incredible,” she adds.

This new legacy project is thanks to the tireless effort and dedication of teacher, Rhonda Witzke. The vision has become a reality thanks to generous funding from Tim Witzke (BD Septic Services) and Allen Mills (Mills Mechanical). “Your generous funding insures this project can operate for years to come.”

Major also thanked Dave Soucey, who cut, engraved and displayed the Grade 8 Class of 2023’s fish.
