Students travel to Quebec

Posted on 2022-10-20 07:00:00 +0000 UTC

A group of 26 Pleasant Valley Secondary School students spent September 17 to 24 in Quebec!

Teacher Janet Gillis, who along with Indigenous Education Worker Tori Jewell organized the trip, reports the long awaited trip was great fun and everyone got to use their French a lot! “

“We spent four days in Montreal and three more in Quebec City. We enjoyed St. Viateur bagels, hot dog steamies, St. Hubert and a traditional sugar shack experience. The students got to bike the Lachine Canal in torrential rain, and have a ghost tour in Vieux Quebec. They visited museums, the Quebec Parliament, the Citadelle, thé Planétarium and many other things.”

Gillis said students also got to learn how to read a map, realized the shortcomings of Google maps and experienced the fear of getting lost! It was great fun.”

She added that it is an experience they hope to repeat with more students in two years!
