Posted on 2025-01-28 08:00:00 +0000 UTC

High school students will have an opportunity to learn about local businesses that are using specialized technology at the 8th Annual Tech Meet-Up taking place at Salmon Arm Secondary on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The event, sponsored by School District 83 Careers, Salmon Arm Secondary (SAS), and the Salmon Arm Economic Development Society, gives students an opportunity to interact and learn about the leading edge technology jobs that exist right in this region.

Shuswap and area companies will be able to showcase to SD83 students how technology is used in their business. Students will be able to tour the exhibits and interact with some of the displays in the school’s atrium. Some of the businesses in attendance include Raptor Integration, Valid Manufacturing, Sky Crew, Salmon Arm MakerSpace, Dinoflex Manufacturing, 4AG Robotics, Forsite Consultants, USNR, City of Salmon Arm, Scott Syme Dairy, High Impact Signs, Centre for Arts and Technology, Work BC, Salmon Arm Economic Development Movie Theatre, Okanagan College, Accelerate Okanagan, Canoe Forest Products, Delta C Technologies, Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) mapping, and SD83 Information Technology. Students are welcome to drop off resumes at these companies as some of them are hiring.

Career Development opportunities are a pillar in SD83’s Strategic Plan . A district goal is that each student will develop the skills and competencies necessary to be successful in a career pathway of their choice.

Employers still interested in being a part of this event can contact SAS Career Coordinator John Quilty at jquilty@sd83.bc.ca or SAEDS Business Support and Marketing Coordinator Kate Watson at 250-833-0608.
