Update – May 6, 2020

SD83 is working closely with the Ministry of Education to begin a co-ordinated and measured phased-in approach to resuming in-class learning, guided by strict health and safety guidelines, as announced by Premier John Horgan, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix on May 6 during their presentation on B.C.’s Restart Plan.

As part the plan, the province has outlined the Ministry of Education’s five stage approach to supporting students, families and staff.

This Ministry of Education’s measured approach will involve five stages leading to an eventual safe and full return of students learning in classrooms and provides flexibility to continue home learning even while in-class instruction is available.

More information on the phased-in approach to resuming in-class instruction will be available in the weeks to come. SD83 will continue to provide regular updates to parents as these details are determined.

Today’s Good News Story!

School District #6 (Rocky Mountain)

A Grade 12 Golden Secondary School student named Caylee Gingras was looking for a way to reach out to her fellow graduates of 2020. She was searching for a way to connect with her peers as well as create something unique and memorable. Working from a pattern she found, Caylee made up a GRAD 2020 face mask for all of the students in her class. She hopes that students will remember the unique and unprecedented experience they have shared with each other and feel a little bit more connected. Well done Caylee!
